Jason Natural Skincare – C-Effects Pure Natural Lotion & Super C Cleanser

all that slap allthatslap.com blog

Jason is a natural skincare company which was established in 1959 in America. They are one of the most well known “natural” skincare brands around and they are sold online and in natural stores like Whole Foods. Given the length of time they have been around, I think its safe to say they know a thing or two about natural beauty and skincare!

Today I am reviewing a Lotion and Cleanser from the “C-Effects” Range which use Vitamin C in them.

The Lotion:

What Jason have to say about this Lotion:

Our unique C-Effects™ formula helps reduce the visible signs of aging while delivering a daily dose of protective hydration. This exclusive multi-antioxidant complex of Ester-C®, Vitamin C and Thioctic Acid helps prevent the aging effects of free radical damage and helps promote healthy skin cell regeneration for softer, smoother skin.

This is a really nice lotion to use and I was excited to try it. Firstly its quite light, which is good for me since I don’t need a heavy super hydrating lotion as I have combination normal/oily skin. This provides just the right amount of hydration and it sinks in right away, meaning I can get on with my make up quickly.

It makes my skin very soft and I think its helped to brighten my complexion over the few weeks I have been using it.

I like the packaging and the pump – I cannot stand creams and lotions where you have to stick your fingers in the product – they really put me off, but the packaging on this is well thought out and hygienic. It also had a lid so you don’t have the pump going down and find that you have lotion every where when you open your bag after travelling!

You get a decent amount of lotion in this for the price, I think its good value for money. I don’t use this at night, I only use Argan oil at night meaning this should last a long time. After 2 weeks of using this I have barely made a dent in it!

Here is the lotion itself – you thought it was going to be orange, didn’t you?! Come on, admit it!

The vitamin C in this seems to benefited my skin. My complexion is brighter and it has not aggravated my acne. All good in my book!! The only downside is that there is no SPF in this but there is another lotion in the same range that does contain SPF so maybe that might be a good option once this is finished?!

Here are the ingredients in the Lotion:

Aqua (Water), Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil, Dimethicone, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Oleosomes, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract*, Bisabolol, Calcium Ascorbate, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sorbitol, Stearyl Alcohol, Thioctic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Alcohol*, Benzyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Gluconolactone, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Cinnamyl Alcohol, Citral, Coumarin, Eugenol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Linalool, Fragrance (Parfum) *Certified Organic Ingredient.

Cleanser:

This is what Jason have to say about the Cleanser:

Our C-Effects™ formula gently and effectively lifts makeup, dirt and excess oil, revealing brighter-looking skin without over-drying. This unique, multi-antioxidant complex of Ester-C®, Vitamin C and Vitamin E helps fight free radicals that contribute to fine lines, wrinkles and uneven skin tone. Immediately, your skin feels clean with a natural, refreshing glow.

Lovely cleanser! This produces a light foam and is a really pleasant to use. Its very refreshing, especially when used in the morning. It  smells lovely and fresh with a delicate citrus scent. It effectively washes the skin but doesn’t dry it out leaving it stripped. It doesn’t aggravate my acne which is really important and it hasn’t broken me out – massive pluses!

You cannot use it on eye make up, but its rare to find a facial wash that is safe on the eye area, so that is okay. I find that I need to wash my face twice with this to make sure all of my make up has come off, that is the only slight downside. Overall, I think this is quite a good cleanser!

I like the packaging, it does a good job and is not prone to leaking when travelling, I like that I can see how much is left in it. I am funny about things like that… don’t know why!

Washing my face twice to completely remove my make up means this is not all that cost effective to me. You may not find this is an issue and if you don’t wear make up then you will be fine – but I wanted to point it out.

Here are the ingredients of the Cleanser:

Aqua (Water), Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Glycerin, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Flower Water, Ascorbic Acid, Calcium Ascorbate, Coco-Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Panthenol, Sodium PCA, Tocopheryl Acetate, Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Benzoate, Limonene, Fragrance (Parfum) *Certified Organic Ingredient.

Overall:

One thing to note, both the Cleanser and the Lotion contain Phenoxyethanol which is often used instead of parabens. This is arguably an unpleasant substance to use, since its been reported it can cause damage to the nervous system. I don’t know if these claims are true but I wanted to let you know. Personally I think its hard to find products that dont contain something potentionally harmful to us in some way, the question is do we decide to stop using these products or not?

To be honest, whilst I like the Cleanser, I am not in love with it and I don’t think its something I would use once I finish up this bottle – am currently preferring the Purity Cleanser I reviewed a couple of weeks back. Out of the two products, my preference is the Lotion, I like that a lot and I would highly recommend it to all.

If you have not checked out the website – please do – Jason have a wide range of products, for all of the family – and the prices are not too bad all at. I like Jason and I think I will continue to try more products from them!

What do you think of Jason? Have you used any of their products? What are your favourite products from them – or what other natural brands to you like to use?! Get in touch and let me know!

Thanks for reading!

  • I have to admit I have never heard of this brand. The lotion sounds lovely, I too prefer a pump action lotion, much more hygienic. I think I need to consider introducing some Vitamin C products into my routine, I am hearing a lot about the brightening properties it has and at the moment my skin could definitely do with some brightening. Fabulous review :) Jude xx @jadlgw
