I love face scrubs and I actively have to urge myself not to use them too often! Everytime I see a new face scrub I want to try it, but of course I try and show a little self control!
Last week I went to Marks and Spencer’s and I saw they have a new beauty range out called Pure. Here is a link to the range. I know M&S have recently re-vamped their beauty halls and some branches now sell items from other brands such as Nuxe and Apivita. Pure seems to be targeted at those who are concerned about the ingredients in products, and is possibly trying to compete with other “natural” brands.
The range contains products that contain 95% natural ingredients, no mineral oil and no parabens. It contains both facial skincare items and body skincare. As a lover of natural skincare this range instantly grabbed my attention.
I wanted to buy lots but settled on a skin exfoliator (a scrub)!
Pure is a range of natural, paraben and mineral oil free products.
Facial Exfoliator is part of the Pure range
£6 for 75ml
Contains cherry seed, bamboo, chamomile, petitgrain and geranium
To be used as a scrub to remove dead skin and increase radiance
Smell is not all that pleasant IMO
Pretty decent and not too harsh – maybe good for sensitive skin
3/5 from me!
This costs £6 for 75ml which I think is a decent price for a scrub. It might not be a bargain but I think its reasonable enough.
The consistency is like a gel and it contains small beads/particles that do the ‘scrubbing’. It contains some interesting ingredients that I have not seen in other products, let alone scrubs like cherry seed, bamboo extract, chamomile and geranium oils and petigrain.
I would say this is a pretty decent scrub. Its not extreme and if you are into hardcore scrubs this will not float your boat!! I must say I do prefer my HG, Boots No 7 Microdermabrasion Exfoliator which I have reviewed here as this is more “hardcore” and thats what I want from a scrub! I would say you should use scrubs on cleansed skin, but this is not mentioned on the instructions – it just says apply to damp skin in circular motions.
Whilst this M&S one is decent, I don’t like the smell of this though – I can’t pin point what the smell is like but I am not keen. Thankfully its not on my skin for long so its not a deal breaker but still….
However if you have sensitive skin or are a scrub addict and use scrubs a little more than you really should – this could be a good option.
I think the ingredients are interesting but I have noted for a ‘Natural’ range this contains quite a lot of preservatives including something banned in Japan (Phenoxyethanol). I know preservatives are required but I am not sure they are needed in such high amounts and this range may not be as natural as it first seems.
Overall, I think this is pretty good but I am not sure I will buy it again. I like my scrubs to pack a bit more punch than this – however this one is decent. It says on the tube “daily skincare” but I do not recommend using this daily, a couple of times a week is probably more than enough!
I’m giving this 3/5 for now.
I will definately be trying more items from the Pure range though! The facial oil and the hand cream look interesting. Once again, here is a link to the range.
