My First EVER time at London Fashion Show!

allthatslap all that slap blog

On Saturday 15th Sept I was oh so lucky enough to able to attend London Fashion Show for the first time thanks to the lovely LaaLaa from Dolce Vanity blog. Not only was it lovely to meet her for the fist time but it was an amazing day, that I will remember forever!

We had passes for two shows at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout part of London Fashion Show, which is for new and up and coming designers. The shows we went to see were Spijkers en Spijkers and Bernard Chandran. We also had a chance to put our feet up at the Glam Media Rimmel Blogging Suite which we were very grateful for – as we had 3 hours to kill in between the two shows!

The lounge was at a swanky hotel and the suite was awesome, there was champagne, teas, coffee, sandwiches and nibbles all there for us to enjoy! There were also makeup artists and nail technicians in one of the rooms to do makeovers etc!

It was such a lovely spot and LaaLaa and I found it lovely hanging out there resting up and meeting other bloggers. Thanks so much Glam for providing that to us!

The first show we went to was the Spijkers en Spijkers Spring Summer 2013 Collection, they are twins from Holland named Truus and Riet Spijkers. They started their line in 2000 and in 2010 Specsavers launched a collection of glasses in collaboration with them!

The clothes for the Spring Summer 2013 season remind me of the 1920s period mixed with some bold colours from the 1960s, its an interesting mix that I think worked well. The hair and make up designs were perfect with the clothes and it all looked brilliant! The hair was very 1920s and the make up was on the whole very simple with an emphasis on feminine but girly red/pink lips. It was a gorgeous look! Most of the clothes where extremely wearable, chic and on the whole feminine. I loved this collection.

LaaLaa and I are kind of in the background in some parts of this video, nattering away on the right hand side in the audience!….LOL!

It was a fab show and we had a great position in the front row!

Next up was the Bernard Chandran show! Bernard is a designer from Malaysia and his clients include the Royal family in Brunei and Malaysia and Lady Gaga and Rihanna have been spotted in pieces from his collections!

For the Bernard Chandran Spring Summer 2013 collection the style seemed to be all about pale and white colours. There was a lot of embellishment and sequins on some of the clothes coupled with a slighty edgey feel. I think he is definately a designer to watch – he will be big news very soon if you ask me!

The queue for this show was out of control – it was crazy busy! Although our passes would have entitled us to front row seats they filled up before we got there (boo!) But we sat in the 2nd row. Unfortunately our position was less than ideal for photos due to a bright light just in front of us (2nd boo!). I did take some pics anyway but as you can see, they didn’t turn out that well, which is a shame. You can see more pics of the show here

The Bernard Chandran collection was not only feminine but very striking and eye catching! I loved this collection, possibly even more than the Spijkers en Spijkers! It was fabulous! The makeup was very futuristic, focusing on strong lines around the eyes, nude lips and little blush. All of the models had their hair in ponytails.

LaaLaa and I had an opportunity to see an exhibit from some of the designers from other shows so we had a little butchers at those:

This is a handbag covered in human hair -” interesting” was certainly one word that springs to mind! Lol!

This is actually a handbag! Double click to enlarge

Overall, I loved the whole day! It was great being with LaaLaa but also seeing lots of fashionistas and divas. I got a few looks up and down which I was dredding but in the end it wasn’t half as bad as I had expected!

Here are our goodies from the shows and the Glam Media Blogging Suite that we got on the day!

I cannot thank LaaLaa enough, not only did she arrange for the passes for the both of us but she was great fun all day. Love her to bits and I can’t wait to see her again! Make sure you check out her lovely blog (and she has been nominated for the Cosmo blog awards – let’s hope she wins!) You can check out LaaLaa’s experience here.
