TFWOC Project – Part 2 – GOSH Instant Tan Gel
As you may know, I am taking part on a series of reviews, with a bunch of other lovely bloggers – the project is all about tanning for women of colour – hence the TFWOC abbreviation!
The project was the idea of LaaLaa Monroe from Dolce Vanity and Annie from EpiphannieA and altogther there are 10 bloggers involved, all Aisan or Afro-Caribbean! Annie and LaaLaa have worked extremely hard on this and I cannot thank them enough and I am SO excited to be part of this project, as often tanning is focussed and targeted towards lighter women. You can read up more about this project here, but basically for 5 weeks we shall be testing out and reviewing different brands of tanning products to see which ones are the best and share our experiences!
Here is a list of the other bloggers (as well as Annie and LaaLaa mentioned above) that are taking part in this project:
Lola – Lola Star Hearts
Safiyah – FrootiBeauty
Tass – Une Tasse
Hafsa – Muslimah Beauty
Sophia – Tattoed Tea Lady
Yinka – Vex In The City
Stephanie – Nerd About Town
Dija – Dijas World
Last week, I reviewed the Abi-O Shimmer Tan Boost which you can read up about here.

This week, up for review is the GOSH Cosmetics Instant Tan Gel in Medium, and you can buy this in Superdrug
This is what GOSH have to say about it:
“Gives a beautiful, instant and natural looking tan that washes off with soap and water. For face & body.”
The price of this is £7.69 for 150ml – which is really reasonable and one of the cheapest products in the #TFWOC project. This is an instant tanning product that you can apply and then wash off your hands, it is meant to develop immediately, and you can get dressed after 60 seconds.
This product is DHA free, which is interesting as most tanning products contain DHA. This contains something called DayMoist CLR which is said to be a natural based moisturiser which contains beet root, sugar and corn starch. It also said to contain vitamins A, E and F and organic Gojiberry which is a brilliant anti-oxident – all of this sounds amazing!
GOSH claim this is dries quickly, is non greasy and streak free – we shall see about that!
I love the packaging, its no fuss, effective and easy to clean, its also really easy to control how much product comes out of the nozzle and its travel friendly.
As you can see the product itself is really dark, its much darker than I expected it to be, and for a “gel” its quite runny and liquid in its texture. This was not what I was expecting either.
Above is the product spread out a little and half blended in, its blends in fairly well, but I did get a few streaks, despite trying to be careful with it.
This is the back of the tube:
Here is my arm with no tan applied so you can compare it to the next pic, with one layer of the tan added.
Overall, I like that this product is instant, and that you can wash it off if you don’t like the effect. Its also easy to control how much product comes out of the nozzle and is travel friendly. The scent is not bad (unlike the Abi-O product I tried last week), but it is quite artificial. Not a deal breaker though. I like the shade of it though and I feel it gave me a natural looking wash of colour which is good. I do like the aspect of the natural moisturiser and the vitamins and gojiberry but then again my skin didn’t feel overly moisturised or amazing from using this!
Here are the ingredients:
The downsides of this product are that it was hard to get this to apply without being streaky. This is meant to last if you dont sweat or get it wet but it didnt last that long on me and I was just at home yesterday (no rain, no sweating!), for this reason its quite disappointing to be honest. I think it lasted about 3 hours before it had faded and you couldnt really tell I had applied anything. I dont think this would last all day or even a whole night out – its just not long wearing enough!
Im giving this a 2.5/5
What do you think of this product and the project in general? I would love it if you would get in touch and let me know!
Thanks for reading!

I love the colour this gave you, it is really natural looking but as you said, if it doesnt last then what is the point. Shame as GOSH products are normally quite good! Thanks for the review Grace

Uh-oh this tan doesn’t seem to be winning many fans.
For a gel it does look quite runny =/ how weird is that.
Fab & honest review babe xo

Yes you are right laaLaa, about the texture – very watery for a “gel” which is strange. Thanks for your comment lovely xx

Great review Grace! I’ve tried this before and wasn’t impressed either! I also found that it had a sort of orange tint to my skin and did nothing in terms of moisturising! Victoria x

Wow, everyone seems to not be keen on this product! Maybe GOSH will come out with something better or just stop making it soon?! You never know!

its nice to know that i wash the only one that this product this last ages on. I thought that because i reacted to it, my skin cut down the lasting time of the product or something

Its awful about the reaction you had to this. I think that Tattoed Tea Lady also found it didnt last that long on her either. Its just a bit of a fail from GOSH! oops!

I wasn’t a fan of this one myself, purely because as you said it streaked in some areas and after a few hours it just looked like a dirty muddy brown! Great review
