MUA Brow Kit Vs Famous Cosmetics Brow Kit
The shops are filled with so many products its hard to know what is what and how things compare. Two items that struck me as being VERY similar are the MUA Cosmetics Eyebrow kit and the Famous Cosmetics Eyebrow kit. I bought the MUA one and my friend bought the Famous one and then gave it to me. I thought it would be a good idea to review them together, as they are extremely similar!
First up the MUA cost £3.50 (its 50p off at the moment) and it contains 5.9g of product.
The Famous one cost £5.99 (its on offer for £3.99 at the moment) and strangely it doesn’t state how much product you get.
You can buy both of these in Superdrug stores or online. Here is a link to the MUA and here is a link to the Famous one.
Both of them contain 3 shades of powder, a clear wax, mini double sided applicators and mini tweezers.
Here are some pics of the MUA one:
And some pics of the Famous one:
Finally here are some swatches – on the top are the Famous ones and on the bottom are the MUA one – to me they are virtually identical!
The consistency of the wax is the same and the mini tweezers are the same too! I have used both tweezers and they are certainly not what I would call great quality but rather than throwing them away, I will keep them for an emergency! They are fairly blunt and hard to use, but like I said, I am holding on to them ‘just in case’.
I find the wax doesn’t set properly and this bothers me, if I accidentally touch my brow, I am left with tacky fingers and messed up brows.
In terms of wear, I find that they wear the same too (bet you are not surprised about that are you?). Both of these last for most of the day, provided I dont touch my eye brows! The wear is good, but I get longer wear from other kits like my beloved ELF (see below).
Whilst some people will probably use the different coloured powders, I don’t think I will. The dark brown is good for my brows, but I cant see myself using the other shades as shadows or a highlight but I guess its good to have the option.
It should not come as a surprise that these are so similar, they are both made my FB Beauty Ltd (who also make Accessorize products too) and so probably come from the same factory. They also have exactly the same ingredients:
In terms of price, this is a no brainer, as these perform exactly the same for me, I would say save the extra £2.99 and just buy the MUA Cosmetics one. I will not be buying either one again as I prefer the ELF kit to these ones.
With the ELF you apply the coloured gel first and then the powder to seal it and I get on much better with the ELF (£3.50). I have reviewed the ELF one and compared it to the Benefit brow kit. You may wonder why I bought the MUA one if I like the ELF so much, well thats because I hate having to pay shipping with ELF, I really wish it was sold in stores. Sigh.
So, in a nutshell, the Famous kit and MUA are exactly the same but different prices. I think both of them are okay but I prefer the ELF as it works better for me and I dont get messed up brows, but I do think the MUA is worth a try if you are in the market for a new brow kit and especially if you are on a tight budget.
What so you use on your brows? Pencil or a kit like these? Which eyebrow kit do you like the best? Get in touch and let me know!

Wow, great post. I guess its not that surprising that these are the same since like you said, they are made by the same company…but the difference in price is interesting! I am using a pencil, which I like so I wont be trying these but this was an informative post – thank you!

Hi Grace! Thanks a lot for this review. I currently use a pencil on my eyebrows but was looking to buy a kit. I loved the pupa kit a gave my friend for her birthday but I wanted something less expensive and was thinking of ordering the MUA Kit. Your review will definitely help in making my decision since I have to pay for shipping anyway.
Have a fab day my darling. x

Great review!! Bit disappointed to hear about the MUA kit, but tbh the dark brown doesn’t even look dark enough for my brows anyway!
Thanks for doing this, very useful!

Hi Marie
I am very dark like you and the dark brown is fairly dark so you might be okay there. Best to go to Superdrug and check it out and then decide. Also you could try the ELF kit in dark (I have it in medium and that is dark enough for me).
All the best

Great comparison! I’ve been using pencil lately but actually prefer powder, I’ve never tried a kit like this though xx

This is a great comparison thank you
I think these brow things are very samey, I don’t know how one could be much better than another when it’s just powder and wax. Definitely not worth spending a great deal on when they’re all essentially the same! xx

Hi Rhi
Thanks a lot for your comment, I agree – there is no point spending a lot on something like this, especially when there are some great ones on the market for a low price.

I have light brows so I find the colours are really useful for me. I have to agree with the wax, it doesn’t really do it for me either! x

Hi Samantha, thanks so much for your comment. Its great you can make use of the other colours, but I am glad I am not alone when it comes to the wax! Try the ELF one as I find its really good!

Very good post. So many companies do this and sometimes your stuck purchasing the most ‘expensive’ cos sometimes people believe more money means better product ( not always the case ) I use my sleek brow kit but don’t really use the wax, not much of a brow wax person unless the brows are so untamed .. or good ol’ fashioned eyeshadow

Hi Laalaa, like you said, more expensive is not necessarily better! I tried the Sleek one but hated the gel, it wouldnt set for me. I used to use brown eye shadow but it faded on me before the day was out. Thankfully I have found something I like and its cheap and cheerful – good old ELF!
Thanks for your comment,
