Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask

Double click to enlarge

I got this in the Selfridges Beauty Box a few weeks back and I was really excited that it was in the box, having heard such good things about the brand and raves about the mask. I love using face masks and particularly love clay masks. This is the first time I have ever tried anything from this high end Hungarian brand, though I heard of it a long time back.

I have to say, the size of the sample (5ml) was disappointing – its pretty small so I could only use the mask twice.

The full size mask is £57 for 50ml

This is what Omorovicza have to say about it:

Much more than a deep-cleansing treatment, this calcium and magnesium-rich mask actively re-energises and brightens the skin as it draws out impurities.
  • Hungarian Moor mud, rich in calcium and magnesium carbonates, cleanses deeply and nourishes.
  • White clay naturally absorbs pore-clogging oil and draws out toxins and impurities.
  • Mineral CosmetologyTM, a patented mineral delivery system, leaves skin firmer, more supple and younger-looking.

Review:

This masks applies well, its quite easy to spread it across your face and feels comfortable when its on. It does harden as it dries but not to the point that your face feels like a rock, as some face masks can do to you.

Both times I used this I left it on for about 30 mins where as the directions say to leave it for 15-20 minutes. I often do this with face masks, I feel you get more from them if you leave them on for longer.

Washing this off was quite easy too, I have found it much harder to get other clay masks off.

Now on to the results – well, I want to tell you that this mask left my skin feeling amazing – but I cant, that would be a massive over-exaggeration! This mask, whilst pleasant was simply not all that impressive for me. It was okay but I didn’t feel that it left my skin particularly soft, pampered, plump or nourished, did I think it helped to draw out impurities, which I think is the main function of a deep cleansing mask. I was disappointed since I had high hopes, but this was just so so for me, and I felt the results were the same both times I have used it.

I have used much cheaper clay masks and had much better results – the Herbalife one reviewed here and my current favourite from Uni Brennan, reviewed here are much more effective and not to mention a lot cheaper too!

In my opinion, this is not worth the high price tag and should be skipped! Sorry, but there is no way I would pay for a full size version of this.

Have you tried this? Were you “wowed” by it? I would love to know! What is your favourite clay face mask?

I am giving this 2.5/5

Thanks for reading!

  • I have not tried this but have read several reviews. To be honest I am not interested in trying it simply because of the price tag. £57 is a lot of money in this current economic climate. That’s a week shopping or a SKY bill. I use Dr Organic Manuka Mask and it’s very nice and cheap :)

  • Hi Sugarpuffish

Thanks for your comment, £57 is a lot indeed and in this case not justified AT ALL! I have not tried the Dr Organic Manuka Mask, but I will certainly bear it in mind for the next time I am on the look out for a new mask.

    Many thanks

  • I have been recommended this brand by people, and I was considering this mask. So glad that I didn’t buy, as for that price I expect to wash off and see a new face!

  • Hello Jessica,

Thanks for your comment, I am glad that you have not spent the money on this – £57 is a lot! I am also glad I dont love it as I would want to buy the full size! Do try the Una Brennan one, I think you might like that a lot and its much more pocket friendly!

  • I barely managed to cover my forehead with mine, you did well! (or I have a really big forehead). I’m inclined to agree with your review- I was sent the Una Brennan face scrub the other day and loved it so I might try the mask. Clare xx

  • Hi Clare, thanks for your comment! It was an embarrassingly small sample. I VERY much doubt your forehead is too big and to blame! If you do try the Una Brennan mask I would love to know what you think of it!

  • Pretty shocking consider the price, you’d expect to see some sort of results if they’re charging that much! Unfortunately it seems to be the case with many facemasks, as lots of them just don’t make much of a difference – at least, for me.

  • I seriously need to start trying my Selfridges box stuff! Shame you didn’t get on with this, I saw someone on twitter (think it was Phil from mirror reality) saying this was really good so I’ve had high hopes – until now! xx

  • Hi Grace,
I have tried it too. I bought mine back in March and it was the most I have ever spent on facial product that is not design for a daily use. I have to say that I love it and despite the price would absolutely repurchase it. I have some other cleansing masks on my bathroom shelf too, but once a month I use Omorovicza just o keep my skin clear from spots. I also use it any time I can see my skin getting grumpy. It my top cleansing mask. I do like Origins out of truble too for much better price.
    All the best,

  • Thanks for your comment Eva. Just shows, we are all different, I am glad you like this – a lot of people seem to! I am just very glad I didn’t buy this at full price as I would have been extremely annoyed. This for me was an example of something being overpriced and under performing!

I have never tried an Origins mask, maybe I will give it a try sometime soon.

  • I didn’t see much results from this one neither! Was a little blah, not sure if it’s something that needs to be used more often than the sample we had been given BUT I really didn’t see any difference with it. Agree with the fact is doesn’t give that rock hard feeling or is it hard to wash off but once it’s off it’s off and I’ve just got my same face as before xo

  • Hi LaaLaa, so you are the same as me! This mask seems to be a bit hit or miss! Some love it and others just think its a bit meh…I am just glad I didnt buy the full size only to be disappointed!

    Thanks for your comment

  • I love this mask. I have a full size of it and will use it once a fortnight, and I love how it makes my skin look and feel afterwards. My pores are smaller and more refined, and unclogged. My skin is smoother, more supple and brighter. And not dehydrated, or overly oily. It’s one of my favourites! xo
