TFWOC Part 6 – Vita Liberata pHenomenal Long Lasting Tan Mousse
Once again its another chapter of the #TFWOC project that I am taking part in!
The project was the idea of LaaLaa Monroe from Dolce Vanity and Annie from EpiphannieA and altogther there are 10 bloggers involved, all Aisan or Afro-Caribbean! Annie and LaaLaa have worked extremely hard on this and I cannot thank them enough and I am SO excited to be part of this project, as often tanning is focussed and targeted towards lighter women. You can read up more about this project here, but basically for 5 weeks we shall be testing out and reviewing different brands of tanning products to see which ones are the best and share our experiences!
Here is a list of the other bloggers (as well as Annie and LaaLaa mentioned above) that are taking part in this project:
Lola – Lola Star Hearts
Safiyah – FrootiBeauty
Tass – Une Tasse
Hafsa – Muslimah Beauty
Sophia – Tattoed Tea Lady
Yinka – Vex In The City
Stephanie – Nerd About Town
Dija – Dijas World
Last week we reviewed the Make Believe Bronzer which you can read up about here.

This week its something I have been looking forward to trying, its the Vita Liberata pHenonemenal Long Lasting Tan Mousse.
This costs £37.50 for 125ml. Here is a link to the website.
This is what the company have to say about it:
“Using a special combination of natural nourishing extracts and the unique pHenO2 technology, Vita Liberata has reinvented self tan. pHenomenal contains all the USPs of our other tanning products, but can last up to 4 times longer:*
• No streaking & No smells.
• 100% free from parabens, perfume and alcohol.
• Easy to apply.
• Unique Pentavitin moisture lock complex.
• 70% organic extracts that are kind to skin and produce a natural fade (eventually!)”
Review:
I am a fan using natural and paraben free products where possible and so when we got this as part of the tanning project I was really excited.
Its the first mousse tanning product I have used. I luckily had a tanning mitt to make the application process a lot easier and less messy. The instructions are very good and detailed, they specify how to change your method depending on what part of your body you are applying it to.
This is thankfully fragrance free as I am not a fan of the scent of most tanning products. Its the “biscuit” smell I am not keen on. This is also paraben and alcohol free. It contains some lovely skin loving ingredients like cucumber, papaya, pomegranate, rasberry and grape extracts.
This applies fairly well with the tanning mitt. One layer of this on my leg didn’t make much difference in terms of colour, but after two layers I got a nice light shade of tan. The colour is not my favourite, it leans on the orange side for me. The pic of my leg below with the tan has come up a bit light, the shade is darker in real life but it would not picture well, unfortunately. Its not that I hate it, but its not the most natural colour on me. It dries very quickly which is awesome.
In terms of wear, this is good. It really does last, it started fading after 10 days or so and it faded very evenly.
Here are the ingredients – please note although its paraben free it does contain Phenoxyethanol (read up about on the link).
Overall, I like this for the lack of scent, the fact its paraben free, the ease of application and how long it lasts. What doesn’t quite work for me is the shade of tan, which is a shame. I also think its fairly expensive – its the most expensive product in the project.
I am giving this 3/5
What are your thoughts on this tan? Is this something you have been or used before? Get in touch and let me know!
Thanks for reading!
P.S – this post and related posts contains a PR sample, however my reviews are always honest and my thoughts are my own
You can trust me on that, but you cant trust me not to steal your blusher if I like it!

This looks really pricey for what size it is – and the fact its orange looking puts me off! They need to re-think things if you ask me!

Hi Lynda
Thanks for your comment, it is small and it is expensive! Seeing as I was not keen on the colour means I will not be buying this!

This STUNK on me by the next morning as I left my on to really develop the tan and to see what effect I got. I think the way they justify the price is cos of the claim it doesn’t smell, it’s good for sensitive skin, free of this and that but it’s smaller than MakeBelieve and more expensive, I didn’t mind the colour it gave me once I got rid of the redness in some areas e.g. ankle and kneecap lol. The medium didn’t give you much of a tan *sighs* – great review xo

Either I have terrible sense of smell or this didnt stink on me the next day! I am glad you liked the colour though. Not a winner for me and too expensive!
Thanks for your comment LaaLaa
