MUA Extreme Curl Mascara

Double click to enlarge

I am a huge fan of mascara, its one of my “desert islands” essentials! Most of the time MUA make some good products, so with that in mind I picked up this mascara a little while ago.

This is what MUA have to say about it:

Extreme Curl Mascara shapes lashes beautifully from root to tip for long-lasting curl.

Its only £2.00 for 7ml – it comes in Brown-Black and Black.

Review:

First off, I like the packaging – its slightly curved and looks nice, a lot nicer than you would expect for a budget brand.

The formula is fairly “dry” – I don’t mean I got a dried out mascara, I mean that its on the dryer side of mascara formulas. For example YSL and L’Oreal formulas tend to be a lot more “wet”. The plus of having this kind of dryer formula means that it is less messy, all good in my book.

I like the brush – its a good old bristle brush as opposed to a latex brush. Its slightly curved which means that its easy to grab the lashes on your inner eye as well as the outer lashes. Its been really well designed and is not too big.

Two coats of this gives nice, decent length and a little bit of volume and it does curl my lashes pretty decently too! Obviously its the not same as curling your lashes, but this does have the ability to lift my lashes and I prefer this to curling my lashes as it looks much more natural.

This mascara impressed me by not smudging or flaking on me at all. At the end of a long day and sessions in the gym the “curl” effect had dropped a little but this was to be expected I guess.

Removing this is a doddle too – it shifts easily with both oil and water based makeup removers, all without losing a tonne of precious lashes.

Here are the ingredients- it contains the usual suspects, parabens and phenoxyethanol. Sigh…..

Overall, this mascara is a winner – it performs really well and its an absolute bargain. It might not be an amazing mascara but its a fabulous buy for only £2.00 and I think its well worth trying out.

You can find it here on the MUA website.

In the future I will try out more mascaras from MUA to see how they perform too…..once my spending ban is over that is!

Have you tried this mascara from MUA? Do you think you are likely to give it a shot? Any recommendations for a cheap and cheerful mascara?

Thanks for reading!

  • Hi Grace – not tried a mascara from MUA but it looks way more expensive than it is! I have to say i get on better with ‘wetter’ mascaras as you say – as I find I can build my lashes easily and dry ones don’t seem to have the same effect. Having said that, one of my beauty pet peeves is specks of mascara all over my eyelids and under my eyes, so this would be one to try for me overall. Great review :)

  • Fab review, I think for £2 it’s a bargain. I’ve spent a lot more than that for the product to be “ok”. This looks like it’s curled your lashes abit which is great. I haven’t tried any MUA. I was going to with the 50% off sale they did, but gave up trying to order as the website was soooooooo slow with the high volume of traffic. I really wanna try the undressed palette,(dupe for UD naked) have you tried it? Xx
