Thai Square Spa – Herbal Healer Experience
Recently last week, I was lucky enough to be invited to the Thai Square Spa in Covent Garden, where I chose to have the Thai Herbal Healer treatment.
The Thai Square Spa is a lovely place, tucked away on a quiet street. The Spa has been beautifully and authentically decorated and the staff are lovely. Its opulent and exotic in the Spa and I immediately felt like I had been transported to Thailand.
The Spa has 7 treatment rooms, including a VIP room with its own terrace, bathroom, reception and of course beautiful treatment room. It was divine!
I was given a warm reception and enjoyed a lovely cup of Thai tea whilst I filled out the forms and waited for my lovely therapist, Kwan to collect me for my treatment.
The Herbal Healer in the words of the Spa is:
A traditional Thai herbal therapy to soothe muscle tension and stiffness. This healing session begins with the application of a warm Thai herbal poultice, which contains a variety of therapeutic Thai herbs and spices; a full body massage is then carried out using blended aromatic oils.
The treatment costs £85 for one hour or £150 for two hours.
Review:
Kwan my therapist showed me the changing room and locker and then in my little robe and slippers I was taken to the exquisite treatment room, with lovely relaxing music humming away and the lights dimmed down. She began by washing my feet with gorgeous natural oils and soap.

The treatment then began. First she washed me with hot flannels, after which she began massaging me. The pressure was medium and it suited me just right. Kwan is well experienced and highly skilled. She confidently massaged the knots out of my back and neck, easing away my aches and pains.
About 20 minutes into the massage she moved onto using the herbal Poultices on me. These are hot parcels of Thai healing herbs which she used to press onto my skin and continued to massage with. I have to point out that these are fairly hot, I have a good tolerance to the heat but someone who has sensitive skin may not find it comfortable or be able to handle it – just a warning. I loved the feeling of the hot poultice on my skin, its something I have never experienced before.
The treatment with the hot poultice continued for about 20 minutes and then Kwan returned to massaging me thoroughly once more.
She was very attentive, she continually asked me how I was feeling and made me feel comfortable. I felt amazingly relaxed through the treatment – and this lasted with me for the rest of the afternoon and evening. I had been aching beforehand due to a hardcore Spinning class the day before but my aches were vastly improved once Kwan went to work on me.
Once the treatment was over I was offered the use of the steam rooms and another cup of the lovely Thai tea. I felt very comfortable and welcome at the Spa. It was also very clean and finished to a very high standard.
The Thai Square Spa offer a whole host of treatments, packages and special offers, they sell gift vouchers. Please check out their website.
I was really happy with my treatment and would have quite happily paid the £85 myself for the session. I would recommend it anyone and I love how centrally its located. I also note from research I have done that its well regarded by the Good Spa Guide, Guardian, Independent and Sunday Telegraph, just to name a few…..
I know they will see me again – I plan on going back to the Spa and having the same treatment again or maybe trying something else, but I know I will return!
If you are looking for a lovely pamper session for yourself, or maybe want to treat someone else, like your mum for Mothers day, I highly recommend this Spa. Maybe it would be something you and your partner do for Valentines day? Either way, do visit, its lovely and a gorgeous slice of Thailand in the middle of London.
If only they did Thai food too – then I would be in heaven!
Have you ever had a Thai massage or treatment? What do you think of the session I had? Drop me a comment and let me know!

Wow it looks like such an amazing and relaxing place! I trained in a couple of Thai treatments specifically for the feet and hands and loved using herbs within a massage, the Poultices sound wonderful, I think people often get a shock when something hot is placed on the skin but it really does work to draw out impurities.
