Caudalie – Premier Cru Launch & Initial Thoughts

Double click to enlarge

On Monday evening I was lucky enough to be invited to an event, introducing the latest products from the lovely natural beauty brand Caudalie.

Caudalie is a brand that I love, due to its high quality products which incorporate lovely natural ingredients and are free from skin hating nasties such as mineral oil, sulphates, parabens and phenoxeythanol.

The event was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the brand and their new Premier Cru Face Cream and Eye Cream, which are launching on the 15th February in the UK and in March in the USA. It should be noted that these are actually reformulations of two current products – only now they are even better!

Here are some snaps of the night, there was some lovely food and drink, you could get a facial or hand massage (which is what I had! by the experts at Caudalie and have some French themed fun on the photo booth! I had a great time, it was a lovely event.

By the time I tore myself away from the yummy food and treats it was on to the serious stuff of the products!

The Premier Cru Face Cream and Premier Cru Eye Cream both contain extracts from the parts of the vine, a plant that is intrinsic to Caudalie – an “inexhaustible source of inspiration“.

One of the main components of both products is Resveratrol-Oleyl. This is responsible for encouraging cell renewal and has a stimulating effect on collagen and elastin. The sap from the vine is known to contain  Viniferine corrects and prevents the appearance of dark spots whilst also restoring radiance to the complexion. Finally grape-seed Polyphenols are in the products and are some of the most powerful anti-oxidents in the plant world, these act as an effective free radical shield. So a combination of these 3 star elements lead Caudalie to have a strong belief that these products are effective and amazing, whilst having their roots firmly in the vineyard!

The Face Cream is £92.50 for 50ml and the Eye Cream is £49.00 for 15ml. They are both suitable for ALL skin types.

As you can see the packaging is beautiful, fantastic quality and elegant.

I have only been using the products for a few days but here are some initial thoughts. The scent of the Face Cream is lovely, there are notes of violets, roses and also a woody oak undertone too. The scent is very delicate and I find it quite pleasant. The Eye Cream is unscented.

The rose is said to be the “guardian angel of the vine” – roses are planted around the vine and should they get diseased its a warning that something is wrong and that it should be addressed before it damages the precious vine – I never knew this before the event!

The Face Cream is fairly rich in texture and feels fabulous when applied to the skin. It sinks in so nicely and my face feels very well moisturised but not clogged up at all. It makes a lovely base for makeup. The Face Cream can be used in the morning and evening.

The Eye Cream also has a lovely texture but it does look and feel different to the Face Cream. It contains tiny iridescent light reflecting particles which gives your eye area a lovely “wide awake” look. I was told it could also be used as a very subtle highlighter too! It sinks in quickly and makes my eye are feel nourished and pampered.

Can you see the subtle iridescence? Double click to enlarge

So far I love both of the products, but of course its very early days. I will write a full review of the two in a month or so. I have the beginnings of some wrinkles on my forehead and I have some uneven skintone too, so I want to see what effects these products have on my skin over the next month.

I know the products are expensive but Caudalie do make very good quality products and I love the fact they are free from harsh and potentially dangerous chemicals. I have high hopes that these will deliver great results, therefore being more than worth it! Also given that the products are so rich you only need a small amount of each per application.

Here are the ingredients:

I was given a beautiful vine plant and some Laduree Macaroons which was not only lovely but also went down a treat! Thank you Caudalie!

  • I do love a bit of Caudalie, and I particularly like the sound of this eye cream. I won’t expect miracles, but I’m always on the hunt for something to improve my under-eye area! The packaging looks glamorous (and the food looks delicious!). Very informative blog post.
