Birchbox UK – February Box
Birchbox is the newest Beauty Box company to launch in the UK. Following from its mega success in the USA, since January its been available in the UK too! Birchbox acquired Jolie Box, which is no more!
Beauty subscription boxes are not new, they have been around for about two years. I think they have had some lows and some highs but I am excited about Birchbox as its had massive success and popularity in the US.
Birchbox is a monthly subscription box, each box is £12.95 (including P&P) and you get 4-5 beauty & lifestyle samples in each box.
This box was released at the same time as London Fashion Week. Birchbox provided some taxis in the Somerset House/Fashion Scout area for fashionistas to hail and save their legs from struggling in those crazy high heels – I love this idea, but unfortunately I wasnt able to ride in one this season – maybe in September if they do it again!?
Here is the link to Birchbox
The box comes in a bright pink cardboard box, inside is another gorgeous box with a lovely ribbon. Within that is a pink drawstring bag which contains the beauty goodies and an information card explaining what the products are. There is also a little magazine included (not pictured) with hints and tips and more information on the products on the Birchbox website.
Birchbox sent me their February Box and here are is whats included in it:
Gerda Spillmann – Bio Fond Cream Foundation 4.5g (full size is £20)
This is a Swiss brand which make skincare as well as makeup. This is described as a lightweight cream to powder foundation. Its paraben free and claims not to clog pores, give a natural finish and its suitable for all skin types.
The shade I have received is perfect for my skin, it comes with a little sponge which has its own compartment under the foundation. This is a good size sample, has a mirror in the lid making it perfect for use on the go and the compact is really cute.
Having tried this a couple of times I really like it, it does feel lightweight, whilst giving medium coverage and it has not broken me out!
I do think including something like this is risky in terms of shade, but I was fortunate enough for mine to be a perfect match
Korres Guava Shower Gel – 50ml (full size £8)
Korres is a brand I really like. Its mostly natural, free from parabens, mineral oil and silicones. The scent of this Guava one is lovely and it foams up nicely too! Though this is small, its perfect for a trip away. I plan on using this at the gym. I love the packaging, its good quality and looks lovely.
Vichy Thermal Spring Water (Limited Edition) 50ml (full size £7)
Having tried thermal waters from Avene and Evian I am looking forward to seeing how this compares. The size is really good, ideal for your handbag. I didnt know Vichy make thermal spring water!
Nick Chavez Beverly Hills – Plump n Thick Leave In Thickening Mist – 59ml (full size £13.90
This is a brand I have never heard of before, not surprising since its American. I have thinning hair so anything which can increase volume and is thickening is of interest to me. I hope it delivers great results, I have not had the chance to try it!
Eboost – Sample sachet (2o sachets cost £20.99) – Lifestyle Extra
This is also a welcome sample- I am on a massive health kick at the moment. I am trying to not only work out but to eat better. This is a powder you mix with water and drink. Its recommended you have one sachet a day.
This is perfect for an energy box. It contains a whole host of vitamins as well as selenium, niacin and green tea. This is another brand I have not heard of before. It tastes like Berocca and I quite like it. I do think its quite pricey for 20 sachets.
Birchbox Eye Lash Curlers – (RRP £10) Beauty Extra
I love long luscious lashes and a really good way of giving an illusion of long lashes is curling your lashes, it also opens up your eye, making it appear bigger. I cant try these out at the moment since I have lash extensions but they are a welcome addition to the box!
All of the items in each Birchbox are available to buy on their site and its free postage if you spend over £10.
Visit the site.
I like the items in this box, they are varied and nearly all the products are new brands for me. Birchbox say there are over 400 global brands which they want to collaborate with so I hope to see lots of interesting and uncommonly found brands in their future boxes.
I am happy with the contents of mine and I am interested to see what future boxes contain. Lets see what next month brings!
Have you subscribed to Birchbox? What do you think of the contents of this box? Do you think you will give it a try? Have you tried boxes like this before? Drop me a comment and let me know!

Korres is a brand that bugs me, has a massive free from list but it still contains SLES, why go to all that trouble and leave that in

I am so impressed with this month’s box – March is my last box in my subscription and i was sure I would not be renewing after January’s naff box. But after this one I’m so torn! I think this is the best beauty box I’ve received in the last year! x
