REN: Hydra Calm Global Protection Day Cream

REN are a British brand, well known for their high quality, clean skincare and beauty products which are thankfully free from a vast majority of harmful ingredients. In general, I really like REN products – they are excellent quality and really perform. Today, I am reviewing the

This is what REN has to say about it:

A gentle, lightweight moisturiser to care for the needs of sensitive, easily-upset complexions, Hydra-Calm Global Protection Day Cream combines hydrating, soothing and protective ingredients to keep skin nourished without treading on its toes. Rich in Omegas 3 and 7 – to quell skin inflammation and irritation – together with Bisabolol to reduce redness and REN’s ‘Global Protection Complex’; a blend of potent anti-oxidants to form a barrier against attack from environmental aggressors whilst minimising the risk of UV induced skin damage, this is a fail-safe daily moisturiser for those with temperamental complexions.

I love the concept of this moisturiser – something that will calm down irritated and sensitive skin and protect against environmental factors, without being full of lots of nasty chemicals and harsh ingredients.

First off, like all REN products its cleanly and hygienically packaged, something I think this really important. Secondly there is only a very light, barely detectable scent to it and crucially it does not contain artificial fragrances, which can be an irritant to many people.

The cream is very lightweight and does apply well, sinking into the skin nicely. It does not feel heavy or greasy at all. It makes quite a good base for makeup, due to the fact its nicely absorbed and not too heavy.

Whilst this is aimed at those with sensitive skin, its worth pointing out that if you have sensitive oily or normal skin this would be good for you, but if you have dry skin, I do not think this is able to provide enough moisture.  With my normal/oily combination skin, I found it adequate but I doubt that those with dry skin would.

After using this for a number of weeks, I have to say that whilst I like it, I didn’t think anything remarkable was happening to my skin in terms of its moisture levels or overall condition. That is not to say I dislike it, or that I wouldn’t recommend you give it a try though! Personally this is not something I would buy and continue to use, but I still love using REN products.

P.S – this post contains a PR sample, however my reviews are always honest and my thoughts are my own :-) You can trust me on that, but you cant trust me not to steal your blusher if I like it!
