On the blog today I have my lovely friend and fellow blogger Tanzina talking us through a makeup look. I have always admired her makeup, she is stunning – I hope you enjoy and please follow her blog! Now its over to Tanzina…
Hi All That Slappers! (That was too hard to resist), today I have a makeup look I created for you all, a smokey silver number paired with bright red lips. But before I get into it I thought I would introduce myself, I am Tanzina and I write over at MakeupAtoZ and ask Grace, this year it is like I have been a professional wedding guest. I attended so many weddings over the summer and today I have a full look to share with you all.
The look I am sharing with you today is one I created for a Mehndi event, usually held a night or two before a wedding. I thought I would opt for a really traditional sari to suit the occasion and with the help of my Mum’s wardrobe I chose a gorgeous copper sari. I didn’t want to incorporate too much colour into the makeup, if I started adding the saree colour onto the eyes I thought it may be a bit much so I decided to go for a smokey eye look.
Before I get too into the way I applied the products, let me list what I used.
· Naked Palette 2 – Verve, Chopper, Blackout, Tease, Foxy & Bootycall
· Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pencil in Black
· Japonesque Brow Kit
· 2True Liquid Eyeliner
· Clinique High Impact mascara
· Ardell 117 False Lashes
· Urban Decay Concealer in ATF
· Sleek Contour Kit in Light
· NARS Blush in
· Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Sandstone
· MAC Lip Pencil in Brick
· MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo
· Lime Crime Velvetine in Red Velvet
I always start with the eyes first to avoid fallout of shadows going all over the face. I started off by doing my brows with the Japonesque brow powder and wax. Next I applied Verve all over the lid up to the crease to create a base for the smokey eyes with a touch of Chopper on top to add a hint of colour. I didn’t want to go for a full smokey eye so this shade allows light into the look. Next I took Blackout and applied it very lightly into the crease and the outer corner bringing it out in a slight V shape. I blended it out with a mixture of Tease and Foxy and then went ahead and highlighted under the brow and in the inner corner using Bootycall. With the shadows done I applied pencil liner inside the waterline, and bottom lash line. I smoked out the bottom lash line slightly too using Blackout. Then I applied mascara, liner and false lashes and that was the eyes done. I always find the eyes to be the most time consuming part, don’t you?
The face makeup application always comes second to me. I clean up under the eyes and then apply my concealer under the eyes and around the mouth area. I usually decide against foundation for Mehndi events, but I do use them in weddings. I think it’s just wedding events that I pull out foundation for – oh that and photo shoots and makeup looks! This would be the part where foundation wearers would apply foundation. Next I contour my cheeks using the contour shade from the Sleek kit and apply blush along the contour line and on the apple of my cheeks. I then apply the blush and I also apply the highlighter shade from the shimmer brick on to the top of my cheek bones and that is the finishing touch to the face makeup.
Now I love this bit. I love the satisfaction of applying the lip products, its satisfying to see how once the lip goodies are on, the whole look is complete. For the lips I went for my favourite lip recipe which creates my statement red lips. I apply Brick liner and fill my whole lip in with it, then I apply lipstick all over the liner. Next I go over the top with a liquid lipstick, the Lime Crime Red Velvet Velvetine and what that ensures is that the red lip combo is budge proof. It just will not budge, I can pretty much have a full meal without losing much colour – pretty impressive!
That is it for this look, as much as I enjoy dressing up I think I am now enjoying my wedding free break, it was getting ridiculously hectic! I hope you enjoyed a combination of makeup pictures and sari pictures, it’s always nice to pair the makeup with the outfit!
