Mascara is one of those I cannot be without and I am always trying out new mascaras to see how they compare to ones I love. Here on todays post I am running through 3 new mascaras and my thoughts on them.
First up is the Max Factor Excess Volume Extreme Impact Mascara - £9.99 – Link
I was really excited to try this as I generally really like Max Factor mascaras and this is their latest one. This is a dual ended mascara. One end is for volume, which you apply first and then there is another end which adds a glossy lacquer to the lashes.
I don’t mind duo mascaras, though for daily use I prefer to use a single mascara to be honest and not have to use a two-step mascara.
The “volume” end of this mascara was somewhat lacking for me. I tried it quite a few times and whilst its okay, I was expecting more of an impact in terms of volume. This side of the mascara is a little drier than normal and its easy to work with.
The “lacquer” side of the mascara is more wet than the volume side and it gives a nice glossy finish to the lashes. Its also easy to work with. Here is a picture of my eye with it on – this is two coats of each side:
Overall, I didn’t experience any problems with this mascara – no smudges or flaking and it was easy to remove – its good but it didn’t wow me and I have got more volume from other mascaras, notably the False Lash Effect mascara from Max Factor being one of them.
Next up is the L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara -£8.99 - Link
This is another mascara that I was intrigued about when I saw it in Boots and I thought I would give it a try. This has an interesting cone shaped brush that is flexible and bendy, which in theory you can use to add more volume and length to your lashes.
I liked this mascara to a certain point, and I got pretty decent volume and length from this mascara. I think its a perfectly good, every day mascara but it doesn’t give me the va va voom that I want from a mascara (because I am obsessed with a lot of volume!). The brush’s bendiness was not of use to me, I applied it like any other mascara. Maybe others get on better and use the brush in novel ways?! LOL
This is a nice deep black colour and I found it easy to apply, though I experienced a little bit of smudging towards the end of the day, nothing horrendous mind you.
Here is a picture of it with two coats applied:
This mascara also comes in a gorgeous turquoise colour if you want something really fun and bright, even if its just applied to your lower lashes?!
Last but not least is one that is not even out in the shops (in the UK) yet, but will be on QVC from March – its the Tarte 4 in 1 Lights Camera Flashes Mascara – £14.40
This mascara is my current favourite and I am absolutely loving it! This claims to increase lash volume by 752% whilst lengthening and separating lashes. This is definitely a high impact mascara and I think it gives excellent volume and length.
I have gotten lots of compliments on my lashes whilst wearing this and even been asked a few times if I am wearing false lashes, something I think is awesome!
Takes a little bit of effort to remove but its nothing like the BeneFit They’re Real which is a total pain the ass the remove! I experience very minimal smudging and no flaking with this mascara, it is the nuts!
An added bonus is that it contains no mineral oil or parabens either.
March seems like a very long time to wait for this mascara, but trust me ladies – give it a try and you will not be disappointed. I cannot wait to stock up!
Thanks for reading!
P.S – this post contains PR samples, however my reviews are always honest and my thoughts are my own You can trust me on that, but you cant trust me not to steal your blusher if I like it!
